With the enomous storage areas in the Columbus Motorhome and with the possible addition of the listed options. The Columbus Motorhome can only be built on a vehicle with the XL8 option from Mercedes Benz. This option gives you an additional 300 KG weight capacity over a standad  van. It is not possible to modify and an existing van to this specification. There are significant changes to the floor, reinforcing of suspension points, suspension and electronic programs with the Mercedes Benz XL8 option.

The weight of a standard Colombus Motorhome on a manual Sprinter with the XL8 option with full diesel tank and half fresh water is 3340KG.
